Georgia United Soccer Alliance partners with
LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center - a state-of-the-art commercial, retail and mixed-use development
EMERSON, GA (June 9, 2011) – The Georgia United Soccer Alliance (GUSA) announced today its partnership with LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center. The GUSA will be the first fully funded US Soccer Development Academy program in Georgia. LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center will be the future home for all GUSA programs and tournaments.
GUSA is an alliance of four metro Atlanta soccer clubs, who joined forces to provide top-notch training environments and excellent competition for some of the best players in the state of Georgia. North Atlanta Soccer Association (NASA), Norcross Soccer Academy (NSA), United Futbol Academy (UnitedFA) and AFC Lightning make up the GUSA. Georgia United will blend the technical staff and player pools from those four clubs to form US Soccer Development Academy teams and the U14 Pre-Academy.
“The concept behind GUSA is to bring the best players from the best clubs to play together and represent Atlanta in the US Soccer Development Academy,” said Dave Smith, NASA Executive Director. “The great thing about GUSA is that we have set it up to be fully funded so that the best players will be able to play at the highest level regardless of financial needs. And to be able to play at one of the country’s premier sporting venue – LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center will also help to develop top players from the state,” Smith said.
"To have the top players from the state playing at our state-of-the-art facility is very exciting to all involved in LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center,” said Lakepoint partner Judy Sparks. “LakePoint will be the world’s largest synthetic turf sports complex, with 14 soccer fields.
